Birchbox - February

My Birchbox has been delivered and its time to open up this little box of beauty goodness and see what's in store for me this month....

My first impression was intrigued, I definitely wasn't blown off my feet with excitement, but I think that was something to do with the blue nail varnish.

I am pleased to see the good ol' Birchbox pouch has made a return Yipppeeeeeee, the box looks much better than the products being wrapped in tissue paper like last months box. Even more exciting is the black and white stripped card with Shhhhh! written on it, on the opposite side it says that Birchbox has partnered with Lulu Guinness for the March box, super excited for that!

Now back to this months box and lets take a look at what samples I have received.

I think this is the first time I have received Chocolate in a beauty box but hey its Green & Blacks, Dark Chocolate, so I'm not going to complain, I love dark chocolate.

I am excited to try Beauty Protector, Protect & Oil, I enjoy using hair oils before I blow dry my hair and find my hair is so much softer when I do, but this one claims to protect against heat and help battle breakages so I can't wait to try this out.

Leighton Denny, Nail Varnish Blue Lagoon, This is not a brand I have come across before but first impressions are not great. The colour is not my usual cup of tea but maybe in spring/summer I might change my mind but the brush to apply this nail varnish is tiny, I like good sized brushes that you get with Essie and some Rimmel nail varnishes but this one is super tiny so I'm not sure what the finished look would be like.

The Gilchrist & Soames, The London Collection Shower Gel, looks like a luxury product and has chic, elegant packaging. This smells divine and I think I'm gonna thoroughly enjoy using this sample.

This all natural face wash from Urban Veda (Purifying Daily Face Wash) is said to protect your skin from pollution, minimise pores and absorb excess oil, I'm interested in trying this and seeing what its like.

Recently on Twitter #bbloggers chat I mentioned that I am useless at trying to create the cat eye flick and I can never get it to look right. Well Birchbox must have been in that chat as the final product in this box is Eyeko, Skinny Liquid Eyeliner, this claims to be fool proof ( I'll be able to well and truly test that theory) and helps to create Alexa Chung style cat eye flicks "in a flash"  I feel like this is some kind of miracle product, if it stands up to all that it claims to be that is. Great timing to receive this maybe I'll be able to nail the look once and for all.

Although I wasn't instantly excited when I opened this month box I certainly am pleased with its contents. After having a closer look at the samples I think I will use all of them, the only one that might not make the cut is the nail varnish but you never know the colour might just grow on me. What did you get in your Birchbox?

  1. We got a similar box, but I got a serum instead of your face wash. It's my last Birchbox before I unsub and I'm really pleased with it actually. Always nice to go out on a high :) x

  2. I just signed up to Birchbox so my first one should hopefully be here this week. Excited! Shame about the small brush on the nail polish - bigger brushes make it so much easier to get a smooth clean finish.
