Glossybox: January

It's beauty box time and subsequently decision time! If you are a regular reader of my blog you will already be aware of this, but for a any new readers out there *waves at you* I'll explain. I currently have 2 beauty box subscriptions, Birchbox and Glossybox, this month I need to decide which one I am going to keep and which one to cancel as one subscription is more than enough and also I'll save some pennies. I have already posted about this month Birch box, you can check that out here if you haven't already. Now onto January's Glossybox.

This month Glossybox has taken the theme of "Back to Basics" which is very apt for the start of a new year. The Glossy magazine contains health, fitness and detox tips that will help to get you well on your way to achieving your new years resolutions, if you are someone that chooses to make them that is.

New year, new you this is a common goal at the start of a new year but even Glossybox have jumped on this band wagon. This little beauty box has had its very own make over. The box itself now has a glossy finish and when you open it up the tissue paper is nicely accessorised with a thicker, Glossybox branded ribbon tied in a cute little bow. I love the new packaging and got super excited when I saw it.

Now as much as the packaging is fab the most important part is the contents of this glam looking box and as the box was not reassuringly weighty I didn't know what to expect when I opened it up. So here we have the contents of this months box.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company, Floral Slanted Tweezers.
These are cute floral tweezers that I'm sure will get the job done, although as I was thinking of buying a new pair of tweezers it's great timing to receive these.
Price: £8.00                      Sample size received: full size

Yu-Be, Moisturising Skin Cream.
I'm not sure I have heard of this brand before but it is described as a "cult" product. This is a multi use moisturiser from Japan that contains vitamin E, vitamin B2, camphor and a high glycerine content. Every beauty box seems to contain a moisturiser of some kind but I will be sure to give this one a go to help inject some goodness into my skin.
Price: £13.50 for 33g                      Sample size received: 2 x 3g tubes

Balance Me, Super Toning Body wash.
Wow a body wash that tones the body? I'm not so sure of that but this body wash is packed with essential oils (juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender) and it smells great. It also states that this is 99% natural origin and can be added to warm water whilst running the bath, Mmm I imagine this scent would fill the bathroom and would be glorious with a couple of candles burning whilst you relax in the tub.
Price: £10.25 for 250ml                  Sample size received: 50ml

Montagne Jeunesse, Passion Peel Off Masque & Blemish Mud Masque.
These face masks are pretty self explanatory and will help to get rid of dirt, grime and give your skin a deep clean. This is a little disappointing to receive as the reasonable price of these masks make it affordable to buy these yourself and try them out and when you buy them yourself you can pick a mask that targets your skin problem specifically. I don't think I would class this as a good beauty box product.
Price: £1.09 per mask                      Sample size recieved: 2 masks

Anatomicals, Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake-Up Under Eye Patches.
These eye patches are designed to help revitalise the skin around your eyes and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. I don't really suffer from puffy eyes or fine lines/ wrinkles but I guess these might be nice to use when your feeling a bit run down and want a good ol pamper sesh.
Price: £6.00 for 3 pack                      Sample size recieved: 2 pack

That's this months Glossybox and I think I have made my decision. Unfortunately for Glossybox I don't think its a good sign when I get more excited about the packaging than the products in the box. Also I have found that I tend to use more of the products I receive in the Birchbox and don't give away as many samples as I do with the Glossybox.

So it looks like it's au revoir to the Glossybox subscription, for now atleast. Which subscription do you prefere Birchbox, Glossybox or maybe another one? let me know in the comments :)

  1. Great post on this because I was curious to see if I made a mistake cancelling my subscription, and I havent. There is nothing exciting in the boxes anymore or is that just me?

    1. Sometime there is a couple of samples that I get super happy about but it's not worth keeping the subscription for that. This box did not make me excited so it's bye bye Glossybox! Do u subscribe to any beauty boxes? X
